Clutch Parts Order List

I bought a 99 K1200LT last year, and it became evident in a few months that I needed to replace the clutch. I have babied the clutch since then, and it lasted for awhile, but is now slipping in 3rd through 5th gear. I plan to order as many parts as possible from Motorworks BMW as they have the best prices I can find. I have been looking at the expanded clutch diagrams, and it looks like the wear parts are the friction disk, pressure plate, and housing cover. Should I plan to go ahead and purchase all of these parts? Any additional must replace parts that I should go ahead and order? If there are any unexpected parts, I can purchase those locally when I find them.

Re: Clutch Parts Order List

There is an extensive pdf list of parts to replace when in there here: http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4308

I just did my clutch job, did not replace the pressure plate or the housing; just the clutch disc and the spring. If the mating surfaces are still flat, not cracked or significantly discolored, you can re-use them. But, if you're of the 'better safe than sorry' mentality, buy 'em.

It is said that you should use a 19x4 Viton O-ring in the crankshaft instead of the OEM rubber one. (if you dig around here, you'll find out where you can buy it.)

Hope you don't need an input shaft bearing.

There are some specialty tools involved, most you can get by without. The cutout 30mm socket is one that you cannot get by without (when putting back together)

Must be time for the 99 - 00's to drop clutches. Mine went on the lift this week for the clutch and whatever else needs replacing. "Take apart" starts this weekend.

Please keep us posted as to what parts and cost you have as I'm no doubt looking at the same or very similar. The Vitron O ring is on order, waiting to see what needs to be replaced once it is apart.
