Back Off Wig Wag installed

Just got my wig wag installed on my 05 K1200LT. Installation was straight forward, just had to decide where to split the top and bottom brake light wires at. It's currently wired as Mode 2 wich is 4 quick alternating flashes, 3 short flashes together, then steady on.

The top trunk is connected to the bike side of the twist connector, with that feeding power to the modulator.

The bottom light is spliced in behind the light, on the bike side of the disconnect. The white wire is my splice heading back out of the grommet to the wig wag unit.

This way either piece can easily be disconnected. Ground is sourced off the empty CB antenna mount.

And of course a short video. I'm still waiting for my extremely bright 1157 LED bulbs to come in the mail from here.
I'm not really digging the heat up/cool off time for the normal incandescent bulbs. Looking for the instant on/off with LED's.

Thank you for the GREAT pic's and heads up info. Like others I have just ordered my wig wag and lights and they are on the way. Also I intend to order a led license plate frame from Cycle Gear that should enhance my entire rear end so to speak.

Re: Back Off Wig Wag installed

is this connector under the rear seat? i can't tell the wire color (white with blac stripe?) is this the wire that feeds the LED bar (02 LT).

i've ordered the least expensive backoff (red and white wires only) but don't know where to connect it.

Re: Back Off Wig Wag installed

I honestly can't remember how I did this, but I kept the incandescent stock brake bulbs - since they typically have a wider "spread" of light for better viewing from the sides. They also take a little longer to reach full intensity so created a bit of extra modulation.

It was just simple wire splicing and a little routing of the interior "waffle" plastic inside the chrome trunk luggage rack to run wires. Definitely not rocket science since I know next to nothing about electronics.

Re: Back Off Wig Wag installed

Hey Dodge, does that striped white wire have burnt insulation, or is it just some of that liquid electrical tape?

The LEDS do look brighter in the pic.

BTW, I don't see any video link.

Re: Back Off Wig Wag installed

Yes, that's liquid electrical tape. No burnt wires for me.

The connectors are located under the passenger seat. I removed the trunk as well and put the module under the trunk where my charcoal canister used to be.

For finding the wires, I just unpluged the twist connectors and probed with a test light until I found the running light wire, and brake light wire.

The last two "pics" that I posted were actually video links. Just left click on the picture.
