An Instrument Panel Light FYI....
Just so there's no confusion, here's the skinny on the 5 instrument panel lights, when it comes time to replace them. (By the bye, I thought that the panel was way too dim. Turns out that only ONE out of the five bulbs was actually lit. Wow!):
At the local auto parts store you'll find the following, which will both work, depending upon how bright you want the panel to be at night:
#74 bulbs which produce about 1.4W at 14VDC. Obviously, at 12VDC, the output is less.
#2723 bulbs which put out about 2.3W at 13VDC. These are the brighter ones.
If you feel the need to go with LED lighting (offered at Superbright, and others) make sure you get an LED pack that illuminates at least 120 degrees. (160* is better. 180* is best) The reason being that the gauges are edge-lit and an LED bulb that only shines forward will produce light 'hot spots' on the gauges. It looks ridiculous.
