Question Need tech help right away !!

I'm in the middle of changing the trans oil. I put in half a QT of BMW GL5 80W90 Hypoid gear oil. Fine. Then I went to put in the rest of the oil from a left over Bel-Rey oil of the same specs. The BMW oil is yellow. The Bel-Rey is red. They are the exact same specs. Is it OK to mix them? Thanks for the help.

Are you sure the "left over" oil isn't transmission fluid (ATF) that was dumped in the bottle?
When in doubt, toss it out. (In an enviromentally friendly manner, of course.)

Go ahead a mix 'em up! Its just manufacturers dye markers confusing the issue. Specs is specs!

Is there any problem using BMW rear end oil (70-140 if I'm not mistaked) on the transmission?
if not, you can use that.

It's not Hipod, but is it need to be?

OK great ! It is definately not transmission fluid. I bought the bottle new and no one else has access to it. I used it in the rear end of my Yamaha cruiser before the LT days arrived. Thanks for the help!!

Use the same BMW oil in both the rear drive and transmission. One quart will do both. I used the BMW synthetic 70-140.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

I put 100 miles on this morning on a breakfast run with the wife. She ran perfectly. (The beast, not the wife!) The beast is still anthracite too!
