LT owner ages

What is the youngest LT owner here on the board? I only ask because everyone I look at is born in '56. There are like 100's of you '56's.

Is everyone my age still riding crotch rockets?

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Not quite '56

I was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in November of 1962. Which makes me 43. I thought there was an age restriction? Don't you have to be old enough to know better before they let you buy an LT?

It's all about "Old Farts on Big Bikes"

Heck I've still got Jeans I bought in "72...

We may be different ages, but the look in our eyes while on the LT is all the same...

When I was in my 'teens people thought I was in my mid twenties. I'd like to think now that I'm 46 (the end of the month) that people would guess by my riding that I'm in my late 30's.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, "F^&*% what other other people think about what I'm doing". The only person I answer to is me and I enjoy my LT (and Wolfgang ).

It's a motorcycle. If it works for you, RIDE it.

March 1967. I'm 39. Been riding since I was 5 years old. Starting riding touring bikes about 7 years ago. First was an 85 Gold Wing, then got a 99 Royal Star Venture, then an 89 Gold Wing with a sidecar for our Daughter, and now 00 K1200LT. Still have the Gold Wing with the sidecar.

I'll be turning 31 in April. The LT is my third motorcycle, first was the 93 ZX7, then the 02 ZZR1200 which I sold to buy the LT which I do not regret. The LT is great since the wife (25) loves to ride with me. I told her when I got the LT that I was going to end up getting a small sport bike to play in the turns with, but the more I ride the Big Sofa the less I want another bike....WEIRD!

In my teens I tried doing things on anything that became available (like riding a Yam 50cc)
In my 20s I tried to do whatever I could afford (like riding a battered old Suzi 250cc)
In my early 30's I tried to refine what I was doing (bought a brand new ST1100)
Comming up to 40 I learnt to go for perfection (K1200lt)

Depends who you ask. The wife says somewhere between 13 and 55. The daughter says somewhere between 25 and 45. True age is 47.

Since getting back into riding 10 years ago, I have owned and ridden; 96 600 Bandit, 95 R100M, 96 PC800, 98 T-Bird 900, 98 r1100R, 2002 R1150R, 2002 R1150RT, 2002 Guzzi Stone, and have settled on my 2000 LT (wife says she'll throw my ass out if I sell the LT or buy another bike in modern times).

1956, eh?

Well, I'm one of those born in that illustrious year. Don't know why there are so many on this site. That's an interesting observation. Yep, the big five-oh approaches later this year. or , I'm not sure which yet...

Unlike many/most of you, I started riding in August. Of last year. Yes -- 2005. What I made up for with a "delayed start" I tried to correct by buying the best bike out there, the LT.

I will lay claim, however, to having been born in a part of the world that was not one of the states of the union, but it now is. It's always fun to see people's reactions when I mention that. They have forgotten their American history. They think the last U.S. state was added in 1800 or something.

52 years young.

The youngest on the age survey was 20-24. The poll was anonymous, so I don't know if they are still around.

Old enough to be your daddy. But if you look like that picture would'nt want to be.

Wait, I'm not any ones father and don't want to start now. There would be a lot more LT owners at my age if they had not had kids. At least that's what they always say.

Saw a 20 something girl on the street yesterday that I would like to be in the right position to ask "who's your daddy, who's your daddy".

Good luck on getting to our age.

When people ask my age, I tell them that I'm 72; and they never fail to comment on how young I look and what's the secret to my youthful appearance! The secret is that I just turned 60 last month. If I told them my true age, they'd say something like "My God what did you do to yourself? Are you a boozer, womanizer or something???"...."

I've been riding since I was 11 years old, and have owned over 30 motorcycles to prove it!

That's funny, but I can do you one better: about 4 years ago, when I was 45, a Dairy Queen drive-thru attendant asked if I wanted the senior citizen discount. She couldn't see me (I was at the speaker around the corner from the booth), and it was DARK outside. My wife laughed for a week. Still pi$$e$ me off when I think about it, but only for a second. I mean -- yes, I have a ton of gray hair but I'm not 65!

It would be Hawaii. Dad was in the Army, and I was TWO years old when we moved. My older brothers loved living there -- house on the beach and all, but I have zero memories of it. Did get to back when I was in the military, but only had 2 days' liberty.

Agreed: would love to ride around both of those states, and hope to "do" Alaska some time.

Not to hi-jack the thread, butt the age similarities reminded me of somethang. When I wuz in the service, we used to try out a leetle show-n-tell thang when meetings took place and new attendees made up the audience. I think the fewest we ever managed to make it work wuz 14 attendees.

In a room of folks, in relatively the same age group, there would be at least one pair of folks who shared the same birthday, AND at least one pair who shared the same birthdate! And the lottery odds are what??

38 will be 39 in OCT. The LT is my second bike in one year of riding. I still have my R100 that is almost as old as I am.

Probably (get it) too much information but look at this. Turns out, odds are pretty good even in relatively small groups. Several of my teachers in a class of 30 could always count on a pair of birthday coincidences. Cheers.

I originally thought maybe I was too young for this touring machine, but now I feel it's just right. I love riding it out here in the San Francisco area 365 days a year, rain or shine. Whenever I think about down-sizing to something like a fjr1300, it's short lived when I realize the comforts and features I'd have to give up. Of the bikes I've owned, this is the only one I want to ride every day, regardless of the weather.

Talking never too old (nor too young) for an LT

I'm soon to be 50 (born in '56). All the kids on my old bicycle racing team used to tell me that I was the oldest teenager that they knew. All I know is I that I've got a big grin on my face whenever I'm on two wheels....

Talking Celebrating?

I'm celebrating my 16th birthday the 46th time. I know it counts, but I'm still wondering why I still have a WR426 when I can no longer get it started?? Now if you know of some young whippersnapper looking for one, head him my way.

Life is good, riding is wonderful!
