CD player

I have a K1200LT with a single CD player on the front-not in pannier.
I've found that if I use rewritable CDs, they become scratched easily and then jam which means turning the radio on and off to continue playing the CD.

Does anyone know if this is a regular problem?
Also, is there any way of modifying the radio system to fit an MP3/ipod adaptor for using that form to play recorded music.

Any ideas would be welcomed.

Thanks

Re: CD player

As far as the CD player, try a different brand of CD-RWs. They are not all created equal despite what the specifications claim. I have had problems with Sony Discs. I have had some of the best luck with some of the generic brands, Go figure? I think Memorex discs worked for me too. Although I usually just buy the Cd-Rs.
As far as the MP3 option. I ended up buying a GROM Audio, BMW Mini 1998-2006 GROM USB Android adapter interface - TRUNK (BMWTN2). It works but does not do everything it claimed too. It also came with the wrong wiring harness. They did send me the right one after I contacted them. Read this thread before you buy it.

Re: CD player

I have experienced the same scratching. I don't play my unit very often so I don't know if the disc not spinning is the cause of the scratches. Mine does skip more frequently than I think it should.
