ME880 tire prices

I'm about due for new tires front and rear. About the lowest price I have seen is from American Motorcycle Tire at $142 front and $196 rear for ME880s with free shipping. Anyone have experience with American? Anyone know of a better deal?

Any issues dealing with them? Promptness of shipping? Billing accuracy? Tires have fresh date codes?

I purchased replacements for my R1200C and K1200LT from them, and my old man has done the same for his bikes and all 4 sets have had fresh dates and arrived in a satisfactory time frame, that being roughly a week from order date. I don't remember exact shipping time because it fit into whatever preconceived opinion I had going in for a reasonable time.

I know there is at lest one member on the forum that always throws out SW Moto Tires whenever a tire thread comes up, I think they do a price match, they are in Tucson, AZ so transit time might change a little for you.

Re: ME880 tire prices

If you have ordered tires from different vendors on line you will realize they all drop ship from Racer Parts Warehouse anyway, none of them actually stock any tires.

I ordered a set of Avons from them last month and was pleased with their costumer service and shipping time.

Re: ME880 tire prices

I usually buy from Bike Bandit as you earn bike bandit bucks which can be applied to the next order. They are among the lowest priced tires I have found.

DennisKirk.com will beat ANY price online, including free shipping, if you call them and tell them the link to the pricing page. Best customer service I have ever had in cycling. Put it to the test and they surpassed all expectations when I had a bad tire interrupt a trip. Talk about above and beyond!

While that's roughly $17 less than our local Performance Motorsports sells 'em for ($204), they'll also mount the tire on a wheel if you bring the wheel in for $20.

IMHO, the difference in price is worth keeping an excellent local company open.

Re: ME880 tire prices

The local GoodYear tire store has mounted my last four sets for $10 per tire, off the bike. I was worried when I remarried and moved 30 miles away that I would have to lug the tires across town. Nope, the local GoodYear here is just as happy to help.

No ticket, just pay cash to the tech who does the work.

My local motorcycle tire shop (not a motorcycle dealer) will usually be less than $5.00 above most online dealers. You get a break on mounting when you buy the tire from him too. In other words, he charges more if you bring in a tire you didn't buy from him (seems fair to me). He works on appointments and when I brought him my K1200LT to have front tire put on, I was in and out in less than 20 minutes.
