Wanted Radio from 2005 or newer

If anybody has a radio they have removed from a 2005 and newer K12LT please let me know. It does not matter if one of the channels is gone as I plan to send it overseas for the upgrade/repair. If anyone is feeling charitable and would donate one (obviously I would pay for shipping) I will donate my old one to the next person so they can do the same. Please PM if you have one so we can make sure it is the right model and to confirm it is repairable. I commute daily and can't have the bike down for the couple of weeks it would take to do the repair. Thanks.

Have you considered doing a swap with a Jensen unit? Lots of recent threads here with details of folks doing theirs.

Re: Wanted Radio from 2005 or newer

Won't work for me as I listen mostly in the headset and use the intercom also. I don't use the speakers often but would like to have the system working as it should.

Second in reading the original post, I am not looking for a free radio. I am willing to pay if necessary. I was hoping someone who did a Jenson install may have the old radio laying around.

Re: Wanted Radio from 2005 or newer

I am in a similar predicament. I am interested in doing a Jensen upgrade (my radio is fine, I just want a different feature set), but need to be able to output to a 3.5mm plug so I can plug in to my Autocom system. Ideally, would be able to switch outputs between speakers and Autocom.

Hopefully someone will be able to provide guidance.

Re: Wanted Radio from 2005 or newer

Autocomm is a great unit. I have the VOICE system built into the bike so I am very limited as to what can be done. There is a guy overseas that repairs the units as I have one channel out on mine. I am trying to avoid have the bike in pieces for several weeks. I keep checking ebay also.

As far as your situation, if there is an RCA out as to an amplifier, you can probably convert those to a 3.5mm. I have used the RCA outs on other electronics to come into mixer boards and such with no issues. Worth a try.

Great idea, thank you. I guess signal can be pre-amp since Autocom will process it and control volume.

If the output is for an amp, volume control on the head unit should still work. Amps do not usually have a volume control as this is done prior to it receiving the signal.

Re: Wanted Radio from 2005 or newer

I was wanting to do the same thing (but with my Starcom1 systems vs Autocom). In researching it I could not find any other output lines other than the speakers from the BMW amp. So for now I can't play CDs and radio through the Starcom1, however I have 32GB of music loaded into my Zumo 660 and have that wired to play through the Aux In on the bike and I can switch that on or off through the headset on the Starcom. It was quite a large wiring loom to do this sadly. But it works. I'll be very interested if someone finds a way other than the Autocom connection from the rear speakers to feed the intercom.

I'm also interested in how the radio repair goes - my radio is new so no problem there (came with the bike and was told it was just replaced) but it seems like they don't last that long so I'll be paying attention as a mod that I suspect is "one day likely to be needed"....!!

My comments are related to taking the auto out signals from a Jensen radio and feeding it to Autocom, not from factory radio to Autocom.
