Ticking noise? any ideas?

I have a ticking noise coming from the left side of 2005 LT near my engine. It is quite noticable. Oil is new and full. Does any have any ideas on what this might be? Thanks.

If it's near the top of the engine it's probably the injectors - common.

What speeds is it noticeable? Does it change with load/no load?

The injectors do click, but not all that noticeable.

It could be alternator drive gear backlash, some have it more than others. Does the ticking change if you turn the headlights on and off? If the noise changes based on alternator loading, then that is likely the noise, other than hearing it it is not a problem.

I had a ticking noise once in mine, it was broken exhaust header pipes on two cylinders. The welds inside the flanges broke, pulled the exhaust and welded them better than new.

How in the heck are you going to have the motor running with headlights off?

I meant to say HIGH BEAM, forgot to qualify it.

Bobby,

I have 2006 and that noise is getting louder on mine..When it is cold you can hear a louder clinging. Sounds like something in the exhaust? Going to visit th dealer tomorrow to get to the bottom of this. Will poast post an answer next week...I have Friday's off to ride !!

My noise was a bolt missing from that exhaust bracket..
check for lose or missing bolts.
