Gas Tank Cap

Hi. I am a new 1200 owner and can not figure out how to get the gas cap off. I put the key in and the cap just spins? Anything I am missing?

Thanks in Advance.

Re: Gas Tank Cap

Did you turn the key counterclockwise to unlock it? That works for me.

Re: Gas Tank Cap

To futhur expand - hold the cap and turn the key then it should unscrew. See if you can remove the key while the cap is off. If you can it has been modified and you can use it like that unless you want to lock it. Other wise once you screw it back on you will have to turn the key to remove it.

Re: Gas Tank Cap

ALSO,
Do a search for the gas cap mod, so you don't need the key. However, I wouldn't do it if you park in any unsavory areas...
