New CB Windshield Arrived Today

Summary:
A couple of weeks ago I borrowed Joe's Cee Bailey #2 -2". What a great idea -- ride with the product you are thinking of purchasing. Thanks again, Joe.

I ordered my #2 -2" w/wings last week. It arrived today, packaged amazingly. An IED would be required to damage this thing in transit. I unwrapped it and looked at it thoroughly. No evidence of the distortion that a few CB first-time owners have seen; all edges nicely finished, unlike some I've seen; the area of distortion around the bubble is smaller than a fist, and so low that I don't think it will ever be in my sight line. No need to send this one back for a do-over.

Now if I just had a bike to put this thing on! Where is my LT? Let me check... oh yeah, it's in the shop getting the rear drive replaced after the dealer left the fill plug off. I hope to have it back by the end of this week. Of course, they said that last week, too.

Looking forward to that first ride with the new shield!

Hope you get your bike back soooon! I have the same year as yours but Ocean Blue. Do you mind telling me what you paid including tax, I'm very interested in purchasing one. My wife doesn't like the buffeting in the passenger seat.

Cheers, Bill

Congrats on the purchase Howard . . . oh, and you're welcome. Glad to help. FWIW, my LT is ready to go so just say the word. I'm going to be headed down to my niece's house Sunday. Perhaps a slight detour your way might be in order.

Early Monday, I'm headed to work in D.C. for the day.

Hey Bill, be happy to share that. It's nothing confidential -- their prices are on their web site.

CB's stock (24" tall) #2 windshield WITH WINGS is $250. The -2" is $240. Prices go up and down a little as you get a taller or shorter windshield, respectively. A few dollars less for #2 WITHOUT WINGS. I also took advantage of their 20% discount on headlight guards (same acrylic material) if ordered at the same time as the windshield. Those were $55, I THINK. Total price of both items, with S/H, was $309 and change.

I'll be sure to post my personal observations on the #2 w/wings after I get the, uh, ... what's it called? Oh yea -- the LT back from the shop. We went with the #2 w/wings for the reason you describe -- buffeting on my helmet and my wife's.

All I can say is this: if my LT is in my hands on Saturday you're DARNED TOOTIN' I'll be on it.

Do they know WTH they are doing? A couple of hours is all it takes IF they are experienced.

I'm hoping it's a parts issue.

That, plus it took X days to work it into their schedule, blah blah blah; then they had to order the parts, blah blah blah; install them, blah blah blah.

I'm assuming you would detour my way just to show me your bike, right? In another thread you said you never ride with anyone else. Mr. Lone Wolf, as it were...

I didn't say "never". Only on muilti-day, LD rides. I can ride for a few hours with just about anyone.

I stand corrected. That WAS a thread on LD riding.

Guess I qualify as "just about anyone"!

I envision our first future ride-together thusly:

1. Joe and Howard meet somewhere between Columbus & Cleveland.
2. Small talk.
3. Joe says "Let's go".
4. Howard turns around to say "OK", but instead says "Where did Joe go?"

I introduce speed very slowly to a "newer" rider. I don't want to push you to your limit. Rather, let you show them to me at YOUR pace.
