Shortly after I aquired my '05, the battery went dead from just sitting in my garage. I couldn't seem to get it to take a charge so I bought the sealed battery (Gell cell?...sorry cant recall the brand/type) that is popular. Then it died last fall (less than one year, still working on that.) I pulled the old original battery out of storage and put a different charger on it (the one that didn't seem to work is an old model Battery Tender - the one that will charge it is a Harbor Freight float charger, workds great.) First revelation: the battery will not respond to the charger unless the hot leads are removed from it. In other words, it will not charge or float through the accessory plugs. AND when I do hook the power back to it (postive first, then negative) I get a burst of radio, 1 sec or less, even though everything is off. The charge will only last a maximum of three days now before it is dead again (like this morning....thank goodness I've got the FJR...)
What gives? or is it just the nature of the beast? Never had this problem with my other beemers.
Just old, clutchless and clueless
