It's great to be BACK!

Hey Fellas!
I finally bought back into the K1200LT! (my third)
I don't know what made today the day, but I decided to look for a good pre owned baby, after 2 years out of the family.... I looked, found, then bought a 2002 LT with 19K miles. I did a good inspection on her, and she is AWESOME! Garage kept, NO fluid leaks, showroom beautiful... My wife has affectionately named her "Grey Goose" (same as my last one)
THANK YOU to all that have helped me in the past (Previous name Cochinosucio).
It is time to jar my memory....Here is my list of immediate MUST DOs, PLEASE toss your two cents in if I have forgotten anything...
ALL FLUID CHANGES
Throttle cable mod
Shimmy dampener overhaul
Gas cap mod
Clean throttle bodies
New plugs
New air filter
Speedo calibration mod
Trunk reposition (aft) mod
PIAA driving light install
Garmin install
LED brake light install (wig-wag)
Convert dash lights to LED

GG already has a heated Corbin seat with a backrest, and a Z-technik windscreen

If you see something I am missing, PLEASE let me know...

Dang it's good to be back!

Dash lights to LED. Sounds fantastic. Howabout a "how-to-do" story on those.

Good stuff.

Is a PITA, but not technically difficult. Remove nose cone, detach instrument panel, replace each of the gazillion bulbs mounted through the back of panel with appropriate size LED, TEST, re-mount panel and nose, and ride on not worrying about toasted bulbs for a L-O-N-G time.

WHICH LED you use is important. Ones I used had concave lens on tip to reflect light out to sides for even panel illumination. Also, I used red LEDs to illuminate the panel. Looks great at night. Can post some to you for samples if you email your address to me @aol.com.

NOTE: Mod only works on 99-04 models; in 05 panel changed to LCD.

If you need more detail on nose and or panel removal, just ask.

Fuel QD replacement.

Also, if by brake light "wig-wag" you men alternating left/right flash pattern, know that that is unlawful in Texas except for emergency vehicles (as defined by Texas Transportation Code). If you mean simultaneous brake light flash, you are good to go.

If you have not done dash LED swap before, I have some LEDs that I can provide as samples leftover from when I did my '00. You are welcome to come out this way and use my lift and/or tools if you'd like. We can call it a Tech Day and also invite others out to learn how to service their bikes. Great way to meet the new guys and reunite with the establish crew.

Invite applies to you, too, Paul. You can make an Iron Butt ride out of it!

Don't forget to put an HID headlight in! Good for any night riding, but also good for daytime recognition. Otherwise the list looks great along with any of the other tips you gather here. And remember, ya don't have to do them all at once! Get some rides in between all the farklizing!

I will take plenty of pics... of everything I'm doing. The LEDs are a PITA, but since I will have the entire front tupp off anyway, it should be much easier worked into a job...

Rats. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't even think about the pattern, I will just look for the standard pulse lights..... anything helps!

Well, almost all of my parts have been ordered, including an unexpected new ebc rear rotor. The mods and upgrades start this weekend. Let the rodeo begin!

I can fix it fast, cheap, or right. Now pick only two of those.

I will post pics of the process.
My wife decided against naming another bike Grey Goose, so her new name is Roxy...
