Couple questions for the experts here.
#1 Can I replace the stop light bulbs with tailblazers without any problems? The tech at the dealer said I probably should not... something about the system check on startup. I can't see why it should be a problem but what do I know?

#2 Can I run trailer lights if I use an isolator? Again, the tech said I probably should not, possible overloading the wiring harness and toasting it. I would think the fuse would go first.

I would appreciate anyones advice and/or experience. Thanks.

Hello again Don,

1. I believe you CAN use Trailblazers or LEDs in the OUTBOARD tail lights. It is the center light that is tried into the system check.

2. I do not believe the 'basic' wiring system on the '06 is materially different than the '02s. It is NOT a CanBus system and you should be able to tie in directly to the battery and other systems the same way. Certainly its worth a quick call to Bushtec, Hannigan or Dauntless.

I'm sure the Gurus will weight in on this one!

Enjoy the New Ride!

Congrats on your new bike!

Can't help on trailer lights. But I was at my dealer yesterday and they were having a sale on all accessories. I asked about the Tailblazer bulbs for replacing the stock brake light bulbs on my 2002. I was told that the Tailblazers were not nearly as good as the Brake! LED units. Check them out at http://www.homebody-design.com/catalog/brake/brake.html
I don't see the version for the K1200LT on their web site at the moment, but I read something a couple of weeks ago that "after years of development a unit was finally available for the K12LT."

This unit, at ~$200, is about double what the Tailblazers would cost, but I do have on on my GS, and they are nice, bright, well designed and easy to install. I will probably go that route for the LT as well.

Smile Tailblazers

Thanks, guys. I used tailblazers on the 02, and like the story about the deer whistle and never hitting a deer, I was never rear ended. I still cringe since reading about your rear ender, Averill. Anyway, shortly after I installed the tailblazers in the 02, a guy pulled up beside me at a light and asked "Are your stop lights supposed to blink like that?" When I replied "yes" he said "Well, they sure get your attention". So since I have been a firm believer in them.

Do you y'all remember the "cyberlite" from years ago. I had one on my '79 RT. Don't see anything about them anymore.

About the trailer lights, I had a Dauntless hitch and trailer wiring on the 02 and the only problem I had was the fuse for the tail lights evidently wasn't big enuf. After blowing it a couple times, I installed a switch in the trailer wiring so I could turn the trailer lights off, leaving just the stop and turn lights. Only pulled the trailer in the daytime anyway.

#1 No you cannot use the tailblazers on the brake lites of '05 and '06 models. The voltage difference on draw will cause a brake fault and the power centerstand won't work and power lock problems will be encountered.

#2 Yes you will need a remote relay or will have all sorts of faults. Friend of mine burnt up his harness not using one and cost him $5000 to replace.

Do what you want, but be warned
