Bosch plugs LT!!

Hi guys;

It seems that there is a shortage of Bosch XR7LDC throughout North America!!( at least this is what I was told).

Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get these plugs.

I know there is an NGK plug that works, just want to stay with the Bosch.

Regards,

Bowdon

Re: Bosch plugs LT!!

i found them at my local lordco auto parts store they had stock. but they are only in b.c. & alberta. i took mine out with 20000 miles and no sign of real wear. i put the ngk,s in bike seems to start even better. most plugs today are made to run for many miles far past our change intervals. i would just order them and change them at next minor service if you want the bosch

Re: Bosch plugs LT!!

The very reason I don't run the Bosch plugs is because I have yet to find a parts store that stocks them. I use Autolites (about $ 2 ea.) in both of my LT's.

Re: Bosch plugs LT!!

I buy Bosch plugs at http://www.euromotoelectrics.com/

BTW, "auto parts stores" don't have parts for BMWs or anything else German for that matter. Ownership of a BMW IMHO mandates upgrading your shopping sources.

They are also out of stock here!!

I have them on order from a group on Ebay, but they are back order ( been 3 weeks).

Beemerboneyards sometimes replaces with the NGK so won't go there!!

I will keep on trying.

Re: Bosch plugs LT!!

From many years experience, I would pick NGK and Denso over Bosch most of the time in my vehicles. Although I do have Bosch in my BMW 740iL now, when I tried to get the NGK or Denso irridiums all my local dealers were out of stock, so I settled for Bosch this time. They are not BAD plugs, but I did have problemw with Bosch platinums in one vehicle in the past, two of the tiny wire center electrodes CAME OUT. Engine was running rough, pulled the plugs and found that two plugs were firing through the little hole in the insulator.

NGK and Denso irridiums are hard to beat, just a little expensive, especially the Denso's.

Thumbs up Re: Bosch plugs LT!!

You can also try www.sparkplugs.com They have them for $5.57 each. The shipping is a bit pricey...

Dave, what's the Autolite part number for LT use? I used Autolites in my RT and was very satisfied...

Just for fun sometime view a bunch of Bosch websites from other countries.

You'll find that "platinum" plugs as we know them in the USA aren't sold elsewhere. These are in fact K-Mart items worked up and marketed by the USA Bosch distributor for use in the typical chebbie and aren't otherwise anything for use in serious vehicles like BMWs. Most Euro-specific experts recommend against them, noting that OE spec is best.

The batteries sold at PepBoys and labeled "Bosch" aren't Bosch products either.

Again, reliance on USA "auto parts chains" for support for German vehicles is futile.

4164 is the Autolite number. Just put a little anti-seize on the threads. The last time I checked on buying plugs directly from bosch I had to buy a minium of 100 plugs.

The ones that gave me trouble were in an old Chebbie pickup truck, not my BMW. I have different Bosch ones in my 740, better ones than the ones that failed me in the past. Still, I will get Iridiums (NGK or Denso) before it is time to change them next time. When I did change them last, I was just too busy to wait on ordering them like I should have.
