Exclamation Garmin 2610, 2620

I finally got my project bike to start today!! Thanks a lot to Ted Hudson!! All the plastic parts are at the paint shop and I am looking to buy a GPS. Been looking at Garmin 2610 and 2620, surely someone can tell me if one of those will fit onto the stock bracket on the bike and what about the two multi contact wires that were coming out under said bracket, would they not just connect right on the Garmins? If not, is there an easy way to install one? Can't wait to get this thing on the road, have to wait though, it's snowing outside!

I had the Garmin 2620 before I bought my '05 LT. it fits perfectly in the stock bracket. The four buttons on the left hand side will not function unless you get the stock BMW version (as I was told by the dealer). The stock power cord plugs right up to the unit and works like a champ.

I have a 2610 mounted with a Ram ball mount, 4" extension, and Ram clamp wired to the map light. This is all mounted in the center of the BMR shelf. Works perfectly for me, much better location then the stock unit as you can still keep an eye on the road and the GPS at the same time.
I've been very happy with the 2610, it gets a ton of use between the Lt, my wifes car, my truck, and the RV.

I have a 06 K1200LT that was pre wired for the BMW GPS. It to has the two wires coming out of the mounting bracket above the radio buttons.
Could not bring my self to purchasing the BMW unit $1300.00 I found a new 2610 on the internet for $519.00. Works great. You do have the second wire still sticking out that controls the buttons on the left side of the BMW unit. I will hide this under the mount when I have time. Also my unit came with a 128MB Compact Flash card. This hold lot's of maps compaired to my old Garmin V. Kicked around purchasing a 2Gig card for $90.00... na just purchased a 512MB for $29.00 at Staples... This holds all the info I need. If I need more I will just down load any other maps to my 128MB card.
Have fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tom, I have an 06LT and a 2620, and although my bike came with the bracket and the wires, it did not come with the bracket with the 4 buttons on the left - did you have to buy the BMW 4-button bracket to mount yours or were you able to figure out how to mount to the small bracket that is attached to the bike? Thanks.

I have an 05 without the nav adapter, was looking at the 2730 because of the xm radio and weather. Wondered if anybody had tried installing this unit. Would like to use the BMW nav mount.

I would have the nav mount installed if it will work with this unit.

I purchased the Garmin 4 hole bracket to mount my 2610. It does not have the buttons on the left side. I this is why I have the second (round) wire from the pre wired setup not attached to anything. Need to hide it once I have the time.

Jeff,

It doesn't work with the BM mount ( the one with the four buttons down the left side), Tried it last week on a mates bike. It picks up the power ok but the buttons on the BM mount don't work.
