Transmission noise

On the way home from Florida (about 2500 miles into my trip) I stopped for lunch. I shifted into what I thought was neutral and the indicator said neutral. When I let out the clutch the bike did not lurch forward as if in gear, in fact there was no movement. There was a clanking sound like rocks were rolling around in the bike. I could feel nothing. I quickly pulled in the clutch. The gear indicator then indicated I was in 3rd gear. I reshifted into neutral, the indicator said neutral, let out the clutch and all was good in the world again. After lunch I continued on my merry way with no additional problems. I've been on two short (a few hundred mile) trips since without incident. Anything to worry about? What could this have been? Thanks for the advice.

Brian,

Sometimes it will get in between gears. Nothing to worry about.

it happens to me one or twice... if you are not in real neutral, (both times happens between 2nd and 3rd gear) the ligth will come up and you think you are in neutral.
It is not a issue. Just re-shift and you will get the real Neutral.
