Center stand advice

Hi All,

I have a 2005 LT with motorized center stand. I've had the bike for 2 years and the stand has been fine. In the last few months, when I lower the stand, it lowers fine and has plenty of strength but when it gets to the last third of its stroke it hesitates. If I help it along it will complete the entire stroke.

Has anyone ever had this issue and how was it resolved?

Thank you

A quick search using EHCS (electro hydraulic center stand) turned up 62 threads on the subject. I scanned thru a couple of them and it looks to me like this topic has been covered several times since the introduction of the ECHS. Not that it's common, but then again, it isn't rare either. Good luck in finding the cure that works for your ECHS.

Re: Center stand advice

As Dick said, look through the search function & links below the thread.

But that said, I think you will find that it is getting low on Hydraulic fluid. And if it hasn't been flushed I would suggest you do it, again you will find links to how to do it in the threads.

Here are a couple

http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48253

And this is the one on the Flush Procedure.

Read a re-read, the most critical is not putting too much Hydraulic fluid in of this could happen http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46384

Good Luck

Usually it is due to a slight leak over time. Almost always recovers following a dump of the old fluid. A small disassembly followed by a good cleaning and re-filling with 125 - 150 ml of fluid. Seals and o-rings should be good for a couple of these evolutions.
