about front bearings

The clymer manual says the numbers on the bearings face out. However my bearings numbers were facing inward. Does anyone have knowledge of this. thanks ed

Re: about front bearings

FWIW the BMW factory manual does not specify a direction for the bearings.

Re: about front bearings

They're plain-ole radial ball bearings, there should be no difference which face is out (assuming that they're sealed on both sides).

Re: about front bearings

Just for additional info, 5204 becomes a 3204 (double row angular contact ball bearing) in some parts of the world. To help identifying bearings, multiply the last number X 5 to give you the bore size (not for very small bearings though, below 20 mm, when a code number system is used). Hope this helps.
