I refer to my LT as "LT" (no, not Lawrence Taylor). Clever, huh?

Have you considered calling yours Lady GaGa? I didn't think so.

I was thinking Barbara too... But that would almost be sacrilegious in some circles... I have a few ones as well, but only time will tell which one she chooses..

Re: I need a name!

I've been thinking about this for a while. Although I don't normally name anything I own except cats and dogs (and I don't really own them), a perfect name has suggested itself to me after last season's DWTS, and that is Kirstie. I mean, think about it. She's a big girl (at least she was then), she falls down some, and she's apt to lose a shoe now and then, but man, she can move! You're welcome to use it...

Re: I need a name!

My bikes are Carpathia (K100RS) and Galatea (K1200LT) the cars are Lady Genevieve and Lady Augusta.

I look for a name after getting to know the vehicle except in Carpathia's case where she, not unlike the real RMS Carpathia, came to rescue me from a bad motorcycling experience in the shape of a 0 Km Honda.

Re: I need a name!

Here is a name for you to consider. Barbarella. or even Electric Barbarella. If you listen to the Duran Duran song Electric Barbarella you will get it and it makes total sense. The guy has a deviant love with a strong willed, very sexy mechanical/electrical girl that breaks down and no one understands. My favorite part of the song is the first phrase. "I knew that night I saw you on the showroom floor, you were made for me. Took you home and dressed you up in polyester, princess of my dreams. Emotionless and cold as ice, all of those things I like. The way you look the way you move, the sounds you're making... In Ultrachrome, Latex and Steel!" Very, very fitting for the sexy girl. You may think this a bit deviant, but deep down arent we all when it comes to our bikes?
My wife doesnt know this but my Thoat is named Barbarella and I sing to her whenever I clean her up. (go ahead and admit it, you do too.) However the back of my LT reads Kirk's Thoat. OK be honest, how many of you know what a Thoat is? Anyone?.... Anyone?
It was dreamed up by Edgar Rice Burroughs in 1912 and is part of the John Carter of Mars series. It is described as a large, slate colored, unrully Martian horse that goes a long way on very little food and is very fast once it gets going.
If you see me out on the road, dont be afraid to say hi!
Here is the song: Have a listen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK1g5dMYR3s

When I first started to read your post, I'm thinking a sex-fy movie character played by Jane Fonda. Guess I'm showing my age.

Duran Duran took their name from that movie. In the beginning of it, Mr President tells Barbarella to "Find Duran Duran!".

According to the lyricist:

"Here we are still trying to explain that damn song that's 37 years old," says with some exasperation. "It was a travelogue in my mind, an environmental song to some degree. We were part of the hippie era of save the earth, and I've always been attracted to nature and the outdoors. I had spent time as a kid in the Southwest and fell in love with the desert. So there I was in England reminiscing, pining for that vast wilderness called the desert. And, no, the horse wasn't heroin."

Of course that could just be spin as he tries to revise the drug induced inspiration...

Re: I need a name!

Immediately after purchasing my LT, I wanted to try the CD player. I was very impressed and amazed by my new satisfying bike.

To celebrate my new ride, my son made me a 70's hit's bootleg CD as a gift.

So, I plugged in the CD and the song "Radar Love" came on. Thus the name was given to my new LT.

After two, hard riding years, I was still so impressed the the LT that I renamed her "Traveller" after the Ginreel's Waw Hoss.

Side note: It's somewhat a Southern tradition to award a nickname to something or someone that is special. The nickname is normally only shared in close circles.

I guess that's what they mean by "Term of Endearment."
