2006 K1200LT Wiring Diagram

I have 2 Gerbing heated jackets. 1 for rider and 1 for passenger. (OK we are softies). What I need to know is how the BMW electrical outlets are wired as if they are all of the same fuse circuit it will be overloaded if I plug both in. If I have to change the wiring a circuit diagram will be handy. Where can I get this as it is not on the CD manual that I have?

Hi Ray.
Wiring diagrams are included in the Clymers Manual for the LT, it is worth buying.
About $99 locally, or check Ebay... $50-$60 in the US + shipping.

I'll send you a PM with a pdf that might help shortly.
Alternately, see if you can contact Onions (Ian) in Melb.... he may have had one from when he had the LT.

cheers
Chris

Greetings,

I run my leads from the battery. You should have no problems.

Good Morning Newport

Should not be a problem , we had no problem with rider and passenger using Gerbings jacket liners pluged into orignal sockets , seat heaters and grips on also .

Re: 2006 K1200LT Wiring Diagram

Thanks to gbob and Mugzy.
As I also have Gerbing Gloves that use 2.2 amps in addition to the two jackets at 6.9 amps each totalling 16 amps that exceeds the fuse rating of 15 amps as used on the standard BMW electrical outlets.
With a 15 amp fuse I would want to keep current draw a bit below that figure so what I have done is to connect the rear outlet direct to the battery with an inline fuse.
As I have too many things connected direct to the battery I will soon fit another fuse block to tidy things up a bit.
Why have heated gloves when the bike has heated grips you may ask?
I find heated grips to be less than great as one generally wears thicker gloves when the weather is cold thereby significantly reducing the transfer of heaqt from the grips to the hands. With Gerbing the degree of warmth is a mere adjustment of a temp controller.
I may be a woose but am warm one!

Re: 2006 K1200LT Wiring Diagram

Hope you also upgraded the wire to the rear outlet as it is only 1.5mm and only rated for 5.87 amps. Ned to go to at least 2.5mm (14.87 amp)

Re: 2006 K1200LT Wiring Diagram

Thanks for the input Jzeiler;
I wired the rear outlet using a wiring connection system supplied by Gerbing and the OD of those wires is 3.0mm. This battery connection system is made specifically for Gerbing gear so I trust it will be OK.
Without me dismantling the plastic ware from the bike I would like to know what size wire goes to the two front power outlets. Do you happen to know?

Actually I meant the internal wire from the factory fuse box to the factory outlet on the top case. All the power outlets (factory) are 1.5mm wire.
