Installing new plug wires

1999 K1200LTC with 75k. I believe my bike has the original spark plugs. When I started to replace them I noticed a couple of the plug wires had been "chaffed" by contact with the plug caps so I am replacing the wires. I already have the wires. There is a cover over the distributor that has one screw that is going to be hard to access. Anyone on this site done this job before and have any advice for me?

Re: Installing new plug wires

I have not done that yet.

When I went to the parts diagrams at MAX BMW, I didn't see a cover on the ignition module. But, by force of habit, I looked at the parts for my 00LT.

Until some can directly answer you question come along, maybe the directions from a service manual might help?

Just in case it has not occurred to you, it is a good time to replace the plugs, and to check the "valve" clearance (when the plugs are out).

I flipped my valve cover gasket over so that I wouldn't have to buy a new one. I doesn't leak.
