Re: just got home frome bosie

Check the rear brake fluid reserve. Sometimes it gets just a hair low and the lights will start to flash. I had that happen a few times.

Hey Bob

Nice to meet you at CCR, we had a great time. We made it to Missoula yesterday, hope to make it back to Edmonton today.

Re: just got home frome bosie

Flashing brake lights are most often caused by low fluid level in the rear reservoir. The '02 and newer LTs are very sensitive to this, and should be topped up all the way to the Max mark in both chambers.

Check this thread for more info and pics of the rear brake reservoir. Specifically, look at post #10.

The second most common cause is a low battery. Either a temporarily low charge state, or possibly a cell starting to go bad.

Another possibility is an incorrect gap for the front or rear wheel ABS sensors. Clean them well, and check both for proper gap. Also, look for a possibly damaged sensor wire, maybe even an intermittent fault.

And the worst case is a sticking or failing ABS pump assembly. If all of the above fails, you may have to head to the dealer (or find someone with a GS-911 device) to check for any fault codes stored in the bike's brain.

Good luck, and let us know what you find.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Re: just got home frome bosie

While at CCR I also found a new cause of ABS Wig-wag... The lights came one and have not went out since.

The easy method was to ride up Bogus Canyon in Boise, once at the top, return to find the group you had left in your dust and make a U'y... to go back up as they passed....

Now heres the easy tried and true method....

On the leisurely ride back up to meet your friends. find a little strip of sand and low side the bike.... The ABS lights will do the same thing...

P.S... Yes! I checked the fluid....
