Swapping pre and post '05 seats

I was sure this has been covered before but can't find it with a search. What does it take to swap seats between the older and newer models.

Newer seats will fit your older machine but the verticle tupperware under the seat may need to be trimmed down if you run it in the lower position. Going older seat on newer bike is no issue.

When I put my older seat pan on my '07, it wouldn't fit until I Moto-tooled the underside quite a little bit.....

Thanks guys! Looks like it can be done but might take a little chiseling.

Loren,

There was a lot of discussion in this thread http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthre...ght=model+seat

It sounded to me like it might be more trouble than it was worth.

The reason I did it was to bring my Russell saddle from the '02 to my '07......

Re: Swapping pre and post '05 seats

Made the swap yesterday. Not sure the '05 seat latches but WHO CARES!!! My keester is soooooo much happier.

I had to do a little maintenance on my "new" seat that I will share in the next couple days.
