Congrats!

how to get it there? Ride it! Bought mine from a guy in TX. He rode it halfway (Memphis) and I drove a rented car there - met at the airport. Exchanged $$ & keys and rode home in the rain.

You're gonna love it! As far as how to get it back to Baltimore, just fly down and ride her home! It will give you a chance to get used to the high reving feel of the engine on the highway.

+1, I bought mine from a guy in Memphis. Wife & I met him in Little Rock, Exchanged $$ & keys and rode back to Central TX, with wife trailing in the car. 600 mile day wonderful intro to my new ride. Fabulous way to to spend a weekend. Congratulations and enjoy.

Congrats!

Fly down to TN and drive it home. Maybe plan a route thru WV or up the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyland Drive.

Thumbs up Re: I bought it !!

Ride it home. Last year, having never even sat on one, I bought an 01 in Fresno, Ca. and rode it the next day 700 miles to Redmond, Oregon for the BMOA International Rally.
Its a great chance to get to know it!

Thumbs up Re: I bought it !!

You may see a trend here... ride it home!
I rode my 03 LT from Pittsburgh to L.A, my 05 LT from Boca Raton to L.A., and my wife's 99 F650 from Knoxville to... you guessed it: L.A.
The LT is such a mile eater!
But it may be just me... I love road trips!

For her I climbed the highest mountain!
For her I swam across the deepest ocean!
For her I walked through the largest desert!
And then she left me... She said I was never home!!!

If you can do what I did have someone drive you out. (you may have to promise dinner at a nice place and upgrade the hotel) Throw the extra's in the sag wagon and ride it back.

Re: I bought it !!

That is an easy two day ride so a weekend would work really well. There is some great scenery on the way as well. I'd be happy to drive it up for plane ticket back.

But YOU should be driving it home.

Re: I bought it !!

I had a lot of extras with my Fresno bike and I just shipped my extra stuff home. I also shipped all my riding gear down to the place of purchase so it was there waiting there for me when I got there. Remember to insure the bike before the trip!

Re: I bought it !!

Congratulations Allan! Perfect choice!!

I have an '05 as well and LOVE it. Rides great, handles great, and gives you a good presense on the road. Not to mention extremely comfortable for you and your passenger for long and short hauls.

Get ready to get alot of admiring looks from all ages.

Enjoy it.

Todd.

Re: I bought it !!

I just purchased an 06 LT and rode it 250 miles home. Three years ago I purchased an 07 K1200 GT in Clearwater, Fl and drove it home in the rain 700 miles. Before that I purchased ST 1100 Hinda and rode it home 850 miles. What a blast. Ride it. Man, Ride it.

Won't the extras fit on the pillion seat? take a duffell or wrap the items and strap them and ride.

I'm from MD - want it picked up, give me a PM - send me a plane ticket, not a problem. You can drive down and pick up the extra parts...

How PSYDHED are you?
Only you can answer that. I think as long as the bike is checked out and ready to ride go for it. Mule, stagecoach rail or plane get there and start to ride. You can worry about the extra parts later. Seat and windshield and whatever changed parts you want to keep, brown knows . . . UPS or Fedex or let the postal services work for you. This should be the perfect opportunity to see how the bike handles in various situations. After all it is your bike and you need it.
ride safe
