Sun shield / Visor for Garmin 660

Hello all,

I have a Garmin 660 upgraded fom the origional BMW navigator 11 on my 05 LT . Lovely piece of kit apart from the fact that 99% of the time i can't see the screen because of sun glare. I did just short of 3000 miles on the continent going thru Germany Switzerland Italy and France and it became a real pain tho i could still hear thru the comms system.

Has any one bought / tried an after market shield / visor that they would recommend and where from ? I have looked this side of the pond and I can't get one here tho I have seen them on web sites in the USA. Your advice and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards to you all

Ebay has a couple listed for Zumo 660. I'm looking for one myself.

Re: Sun shield / Visor for Garmin 660

I have an '09LT with a Zumo 660 mounted. Have used a RBNS HOOD from http://www.priushood.com/
It is not too bad but there are two issues:-
First, you will still get some washout of the screen with the standard mounting angle although it is much better than no hood. Second, is that it is hard plactic so it is a bit of a pain to remove and replace to pack the GPS in its case every time you leave the bike unattended. My next step to help is to fabricate a tapered spacer to mount the screen more vertical. This should substantially eliminate the problem.

Another manufacturer is here http://www.gpsstore.com.au but I have not tried this one but I like the idea of it folding. Might scrap the first one for this if someone has some good feedback.

Good find Bob, thanks for the link.
I've just replaced my old 2620 with a new Nuvi 500 and was wondering what to do about a sunshade. Alex at GPSStore called me back to talk about the visors (nice bloke, he's in Brissy, a bit too close to the river at the moment!).
I've just ordered one... they are cheap enough at ~$25 delivered. He reckons he's sold lots to motorcyclists... & the material is water-resistant.
It should fit to the motorcycle mount, rather than the gps itself in my case, so thats a good thing.

cheers
