Speedo change - US to Metric

Hello gang - I have a 06 K1200LT I purchased in the USA - it reads in MPH and I would like to have it in metric. I am told there is a way to change the program - anyone know how? Thanks

Re: Speedo change - US to Metric

I just change the GPS to km and have both. The speedo should have both km and mph

I believe this has come up before on this forum. IIRC the solution is easy. Order a new unit from BMW. Or spend 1/5 the money and get a nice GPS!

Re: Speedo change - US to Metric

It already has metric in the center. But that does nothing for the KM odometer. Don't think they made it easy to swapout other than a whole new unit for $$$$$$$$. ($1,377.00 to be exact).

Nope. The GPS in kms, as others have suggested, resolves the convert economically but says nothing for the mi/gal, and distance to empty. They allowed for this adjustment in the later RT's only as I understand...

Re: Speedo change - US to Metric

Another thumbs up for the GPS. I keep mine on all the time just for the speedo reading.
Also, the speedo is pretty inaccurate and the kph numbers don't light up in the dark so you are S.O.L. when riding at night.
