bad tranny

Hi guys at 50k I had my 1st tranny failure input shaft bearing failed taking out the small helical gear rt next to it . Had the western states ext warranty sf dealer fixed it here we are 2and a half yrs later same problem this time tranny got stuck in 3rd gear lucky to make it home from only 30 mls out. Anybody got any ideas too much preload on the ball bearing? Bad NSK bearing was made in Poland ,Sealed bearing too. Very espensive job. Help ??

Have you checked your shift linkage, left side, behind shift lever?

Re: bad tranny

I feel your pain, as a worst case scenerio, pick up a used tranny off ebay or some used parts place and replace the tranny and get back to riding. Thats what I did.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".

Re: bad tranny

To HELL with a used tranny, just pull the front cover and the input shaft replace all damaged parts as well as the updated spring and you should be good to go.
