Spiegler brake line installation

Rear brake line on my bike started leaking near rear master cylinder. As bike is 10 years old I decided to replace all rubber lines with Spiegler ones. I got all lines installed and bleeded with no problems. I rotated front master cylinder so that reservoir is horizontal during bleeding. When I rotated brake fitting back to normal position the new brake line is interfering the bracket where handlebar cover should attach. See the attachment.

Has anyone else had same problem or do I have wrong part?

Re: Spiegler brake line installation

Yup.

Same thing happened to me.

With the master cylinder in the "normal" position, loosen the banjo bolt and rotate the line out of the way. "Dry-fit" the bottom handle bar cover in place to make sure it clears the brake line.

Then tighten the banjo bolt.

For me, the biggest PITA was getting the top handle bar covers screwed back in.

Finally it occurred to me use a mirror to look up the dark hole to see how to align the screw.

Re: Spiegler brake line installation

In my case the brake line goes under the bracket and lower bar cover cannot be installed at all.

Does anyone know if the banjo fitting can be bent without braking it?

make sure the master cylinder didnt get pushed toward the end of the handlebar when you loosened it. loosen the brake cylinder again and give it a push up the handlebar.

Re: Spiegler brake line installation

Master cylinder was pushed towards to end of the bar for bleeding the brakes. But i moved it back to normal position, see the picture how marks are aligned.
Second picture show better how brake line leaves incorrect angle from master cylinder.

Who has installed Spieglers, did you had this line coming from same angle?
Original line clears this bracket from right side.

Re: Spiegler brake line installation

Thanks for pictures BecketMa,
Your line goes same way than mine, there is not a lot room for lower bar cover. Original brake line clears this bracket from right side. I think that Spiegler should change angle for this banjo fitting to fit better to LT.

Re: Spiegler brake line installation

Once you tilt the cylinder slightly, everything will fall into place.

When you take her out for a ride you'll be amazed in the improvement.

I figured that once I did the install, I wouldn't have to worry about it again.
