Loose Throttle Grip

While returning from a trip yesterday, my throttle grip loosened and began turning around the metal underneath. Needless to say it was impossible to accelerate. I made it home safely and checked the grip. The grip completely slid off exposing the metal "tube" underneath. Is there a compound I can use to reattach the grip or will this require purchasing a new grip? I'm assuming the heating element is attached somewhere inside the grip (I never saw it). How much for a new grip, if needed? How difficult is repair/replacement?
