Left hand rear speaker not working

I have checked most of the posts to no avail and tried to make the title concise regarding my problem.

The rear left hand speaker on my 05 LT is not working. Itīs not the speaker as I have tried the connections with a new one and the same thing happens, i.e. after switching on the readio it works for anything between 30 secs and 60 secs and then cuts out.

All the other speakers work fine.

I know of several other LT owners who have/have had EXACTLY the same problem, so it looks like the radioCD player must have a design fault.

What I do not understand is why it is always the same speaker. Could the output overheat because it is near a heat source ?.

Would welcome any input or suggestions about this and also if anyone thinks it is repairable.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Left hand rear speaker not working

I'm lucky my 05 only lost the fronts, but, I have both right + left rears.

I think you're right, electronic defect. I've read of people who cleaned connections or left battery unplugged for a reset (I tried this and it worked for a while) all temporary solutions.

One of my buddies repairs electronics and he basically looks for cold solder joints, burnt components, anything that doesn't look right and he's usually pretty good. I think the amp or other discreet component fails. I'll probably hard wire an amp in and wire the backs to the front and hope it keeps going.

You'll have to dig in and take her apart and hopefully see an obvious break in the circuit.

Good luck
