New to the LT with a ?

Just got my 1999 K1200LT the seller brought it to my place and I couldnt ride till the next morning. It was in mid 40s temp wise started the bike was ready to take off side stand was up but even though I was in first gear when I let out the cluch nothing happend. Then I even went up to 2nd gear and nothing. After the bike ran for a few more minutes it preformed normaly. The manual says to start the bike and dont let it idle so do I have a problem?? Thanks John

Same exact thing happened to me, It's normal because of the dry clutch (So I'm told). With it running, hold the shifter down and slowly let out the clutch. It will click right into gear, and you're ready to go.

That does NOT sound normal. Does the neutral light go out? If you are actually in 1st gear the bike should be rolling.

It doesn't sound right, at least the way you're describing it. Are you certain you were in gear?
With a new to you bike, and if it actually did not go into gear, you may need to clean, lube and/or adjust the shift linkage.

Re: New to the LT with a ?

The LT can be a little tricky getting into gear if your not used to it..........With the clutch depressed, start a little downward pressure on the shift lever, then ease out on the clutch until it slips into gear..........you'll feel it right away and adapt the feel for it almost immediately.

It' just one of the little idiosyncrasies of our beloved 'Fat Girl'.....................
