Low fuel light stays on

I did a search of the board and did not find anything to do with the low fuel warning light staying on. Filled the bike up yesterday and notice the fuel gauge did not settle quite as high as it normally does when I filled up. The low fuel light was not on, but this morning on the way to work the low fuel light flickered a couple of times and then stay on for a couple of miles and went off. The gauge shows almost full and now the light is on all the time. Really really hate to pull the plastic, but if no one has seen this, guess I'll get the 40 or so different tools required to pull the plastic and see what's up around the sending unit....
