Gear Change Connecting rod failures

Hi Guys. Graham in Cambridge, Emgland here. Some two weeks ago one of the small ball joint bolts on the gear linkage sheared off. It was replaced and blow me it's gone again!! Has anyone experienced this before and if so what;s the fix. The part is a whopping $3.00

Normally they are very strong, unless the come loose. They come with dry red loctite and should be checked and tightened at the 12K service. I have never had one fail, but I often find a loose one. Keeping the pockets lubed also helps. Don't jam it into gear, shifting should always be butter smooth. Let a little clutch out as you are shifting into first from a stop and it will slide right in.

You might want to check to see if the threads are wallowed out just a little. That can cause them to loosen. Did you do the work yourself? If not, it's something a guy should learn to do. I only say that as I had to learn in a motel parking lot. And as stated, cleaning and lubing is key.
