Trip

My wife and I got back Sat. from our trip to Seattle from Minnestoa. It was a 5540 mile trip over 2 1/2 weeks. Rochester, MN to Salt Lake City to Sacramento, CA to Eureka, CA then to Port Angeles, WA., Yellowstone NP, Big Horn Mountains and home.

Tempuratures were in the 40's the first three days, and 8 hours of rain the first day. The trip ended in the 80 and 90's the last three days and "Windy" - side wind around 30 mph. Average temp the rest of the time 50-60's. Low temp was 36 - Lincoln Memorial Monument Rest stop between Gillette and Larimie WY.

The bike was flawless - except for the final drive failure (posted earlier) in Reno NV, and one mirror coming off in South Dakota - luckily it was teathered.

In CA, Hwy 36 - Red Bluff to Eureka was "twisties" next 140 miles. Quite a road. Would have been nicer if it wasn't raining and 45 degrees. Washington Hwy 2 was great. Really, the whole trip was great. Sure is a lot of snow in the mountains this time of year. Yellowstone Lake still had ice on it. Could have reached out and petted a Bison along the road in Yellowstone (I move over instead). The black bear we saw was a little further off the road.

Stock seat on the bike. No problems for the wife or me with comfort. The heated seats and grips sure came in handy. No day was over 10 hours. Most of the time 7-8.

This is sure a great bike to travel on!!

Re: Trip

Sounds like a wonderful trip. My wife doesn't enjoy riding enough to take a trip like the one you just finished. I often have 5-6 consecutive days off in a row. I should spend more of these stretches touring solo. Yellowstone is an easy round trip within this timeframe.

Congrats again on your adventure

You have to grow up to have a mid-life crisis!!!!!

I could play with women or with cars, I find cars are cheaper and you can write a book about cars a guy would understand.

Re: Trip

It's the long trips that really make you appreciate the LT. Everytime I think about getting another ride - I go for a thousand miles or so trip which incluedes highways, country roads and of course some twisty mountaiun roads. I just don't know if there is another bike that does it all quite as well as the LT.
