No dash lights...Most of the time

Since I started riding again this spring, suddenly I have no dash lights and the turn signal indicators are on all the time. If I use either turn signal the corresponding dash light will blink like its supposed to, when I cancel it, the dash indicator will go to the lighted state. But then occasionally, I will start the bike up and everything will work as it should. I would guess that it works the way it should 1 time out of 10. Any ideas on what might be causing this phenomenon or where I could start to look for the problem? Thanks in advance!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobobomy!

Re: No dash lights...Most of the time

A quick scan of the diagram indicates the fault could be a missing ground on the dash lights. That could cause the turn indicators to light up all the time.

Re: No dash lights...Most of the time

Thanks for the info. Any idea what grounds and where they might be located? I would hate to tear into this beast willy-nilly.

Re: No dash lights...Most of the time

Sorry, It could be anywhere in the dash or a connector on outside. Look for brown wires as they are always grounds on the BMW.
