for importing a vehicle into Canada from the US here is the first place to start:
There is a little more that needs to be done before entering a vehicle into Canada:
RIV fee of 200.00 must be paid ( with this fee comes an inspection at a Canadian Tire).
ALL paperwork ( ie, copy of title, copy of bill of sale ( signed and sealed by notary), paperwork sent to you ( by email or fax) by RIV has to be at the Canadian border crossing 72 hours before you bring the bike there( check which border crossings do vehicle transfers before ( there are only a few in Ontario that do!!).
You must go to the US border crossing first, so they can delete the US title for the vehicle entering Canada. ( make sure you have the original title with you, copies son't work!!.
I found that talking to the RIV was extremely helpful, and did not have problems when you follow them to the letter.
ASLO, remember to get the recall clearance from the US dealer if possible when you purchase the bike. If not before you can do anything, you will need to pay BMW Canada their 500.00 Can fee to send you the clearance letter!!!
Keep us informed at how things go. Any questions, there is a wealth of info here and check the Canada section, because there are quite a few Canadians that saved a lot of money purchasing US bikes and they all have been through the procedures!!
