My 2005 LT's heated hand grips do not appear to putting out the heat like they once did. Is this normal, that is, the older the grips, the less heat they generate? Or is this a sign of something else? Others experiences with this is welcomed.

I would not think that age alone would cause the heat to diminish. Several questions:
Do BOTH grips seem to generate less heat or just one?

Do you have anything over the grips (i.e. - grip tape, grip puppies, etc)?

It is not age related. My '00 LT's grips get as hot as they did when new, and with Grip Puppies installed! I would check for loose connections or possibly light corrosion.

My heat on my 2002 works like new. You can check the voltage leading to the grip, it should be around 13.

Thanks for responses. Nothing on the grips. I will check voltage and see what comes up. Just where is the best place to check voltage to the grips? Maybe its telling me its time to trade for the new and upcoming LT. Hmmmm.

Oh yeah, that's it, you need a new LT because the grips aren't getting hot enough,
That's gonna be a "hard sell"

The grips plug in......(drum roll)......under the stingray,
remove both sides of the tupperware, then loosen the stingray find the plug and test the voltage,
five minute job... after you've got the tupperware off!

Thanks for the info.

New bike because of heated grips not working like they should is better than full ashtrays. Besides, the LT ain't got any and I don't smoke.
