Cruise control inoperative

Thanks to all that pointed me to the diagnostics. The test showed the throttle stop switch at fault. Do I have to pull the tank etc to get to it or is it accessible an easier way? Also when I get to the switch are there specific specs for the adjustment or repair?

What do you mean by "throttle stop switch"? Is this the switch located by the throttle bodies? If yes and your 01 is like my 02 this is adjusted by the throttle cable adjustments and you should not have to remove the fuel tank. Depending on the syle of cables you may not have to remove any plastic either.

NOTE: I could never get this switch adjusted on mine so I just disconnected it to confirm it was the only fault.

Re: Cruise control inoperative

Just got mine out of 24K service and the cruise control, that previously worked fine, became intermittent. After doing the diagnostic found the throttle release would fail one time and work the next.

I aslo noticed the tech took up some of the slack in the throttle free play. After adding some more slack (freeplay) to the the return cable, the cruise control worked fine.

Hope this helps. Easy fix.

Re: Cruise control inoperative

Doug Thank you for the links. In following the trouble shooting advice I found it to be the clutch switch. Other than learning to work looking in a mirror, it wasn't too bad. This site and all the input and sharing of experience has been a life saver. Thanks again.
