Cee Bailey #2 question

I want to order a #2 but can't get answers to my question from Cee Bailey so I'll try here.

If you have a #2, -2, or -4, would you get a measurement for me?

I'd like a line drawn across the top of the mounting covers, and from that line, measure up to the top edge of the shield.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

On an LT I could give you a measurement on a -3 if you like (14.5") but the measurement you are asking for is very deceiving. I tried the same thing you are 3 years ago. if you are changing from stock, the problem is the BMW shield curves back toward the rider. The Bailey's #2 curves up slightly over the last 3-4 inches. this makes the measurement from the top of the caps to the top of the shield inaccurate realitive to your line of sight. I found for a true measurement for ride and viewing height you need to measure on a perpidicular plane from the top of the electronics control panel cover on top of the tank up to the top edge of the shield. I'm 6'3" and the -3 is perfect for looking over the shield when down at low speeds and about 1 1/2" raise pushes all the wind right over the top. I hope this helps.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

I am not changing from stock. The shield I have now is a Visual Screen. It was on the bike when I got it. I'm 5'8", 29" inseam and want to look over when alone, quiet down the pocket, and have less turbulence on the boss behind.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

I have the Cee Bailey #2, stock hieght; actually a little taller than I would have liked. I am 6'3", and can see over the shield no problem when lowered all the way. When pillion is aboard, she likes it raised a bit, to the point to where I am looking through the shield.

I think next time, I will order the -2. Just my $.02. Love the shield, but will try the -2, so perhaps she won't get the wind buffet, and I can still see over.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

Joe,
I have a Cee Bailey #2, -2. I am also 5'8", but have a 32" inseam (shorter torso). If I had it do to over, I would probably have gotten the -4. When it's all the way down, I can just barely see over the top. The -4 would have given me more options for how low to keep it. My SO rides pillion with me a lot and the screen is perfect for her with no turbulence (much better than stock) when it is about half-way up, so in that respect it works well.

I am 5' 10" and have the -4 and I find it perfect for me I can see over the top fine and with the slight curve thats put on the screen i get very little in the way of turbulence.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

I am 5'9" with a 30" inseam. I have two #2's I use one with wings and one without both are
-4" and I love that height, I can see over it when all the way down. I measured mine and it is 13 1/2" from a line across the middle of the covers to the top of the screen.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

Like a few others I also have the #2-2,
I am 6' with a 32" inseam
with my (RM) seat in the low position I can see over the top
but would like it an inch or so lower.
With the seat in the high position the windshield height is just right for looking over.
If I had to do it over I'd get a -3 or -4.

If you do a search for Cee Bailey you'll find many in agreement with us.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

Well Joe....

If it wasn't so cold here in Minnesota I would say in my best Norwegian accent..."Come on down and look at mine. I have both a -3 and a -4 #2. Cee Bailey.
I love them. I just got a -4 to put on because the -3 makes me sit to upright at times to see over the windshield. I don't like looking throughout the shield....Hope that helps. You are still welcome to come on down and have a look.
Side Note Joe: You still got that RS? Still looking to sell it??

I'd like a line drawn across the top of the mounting covers, and from that line, measure up to the top edge of the shield.

I can tell you my -6, yes -6 is 19.5", full up, level across the top of shield, down to the Sting Ray buttons. It is the only way to measure height that makes sense to me and was shown to me by someone who proofed this out and posted up here.

It is what I used to make sure I could see over the shield as I hate looking through one. Full up it was about 3" above my eyes, the rebuilt Russel changed that to about 2". So if a new seat is in your future take that into account.

Mine came with the High Shield on it and I removed it as soon as it hit my carport. It was just so damn tall. It just seemed to go up, and up, and up...............

Another thing is I don't haul anyone too often. To get a passenger out of the air or rain I think you would need a Tall Screen, others with experience will comment on that.

Lot of choices and thoughts on shields, shape, and composition, it does take a bit to sort out.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

I have a #2 -2 and am 6'3" with a 34" inseam. I normally ride with the screen up 1.5 inches or so and still look out over the top, most of my head is above the uper edge of the screen at that point.

Thumbs up Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

I'm 5'8' also with a 29 inseem. I have a -4 and is at the perfect level to look over and get the wind protection. If needed a slight elevation of shield will protect the pillion.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

I am 5'9" with a 30" inseam. My first CeeBailey was a #2 -2, with wings. I could barely see over the top of the Windshield when it was in the down position. I found someone on this site who wanted the #2 -2, so I bought a #2 -2 with wings to replace the -2. I think the -4 is perfect for me, but my wife thinks there is too much turbulance with it, especially when it is all the way down. SO, Cee Bailey had their windshields no sale here a short time ago, and I bought a -3. The wife likes it much better, and I can still see over the top with it in the down position. For my wife and I, it is the perfect situation.

If you are thinking of buying one of Cee Bailey's,
they have 30% off of all windshields this weekend. See their web page.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

Just got the new Hyperflow in the sports flow (shortest) version for my LT. I love it. It is about 2" higher than the stock low shield at 191/2". I am 5'8" with a 29" inseam and at its lowest height it is below the sight line, while at its high, it is a true see-through. I have the low version of the BMW riders seat. Also, this shield looks sharp.

Re: Cee Bailey #2 question

I have a CEE Bailey on my bike. I bought the -2 with out the side wings.

I am 6'-2" with a 36" inseam (ie short upper body). I can see over the
windshield no problem. I wish it was a little bit lower.

I plan on cutting an inch off the upper lip. I don't like the turbulence
created by the little flip at the top of the windshield. The wind
seems to curl around and hit me in the back of the head.

I wish I had bought a -3" version.

I bought a #2 -4 Sunday evening. The email I received at time of order stated the shield would ship in 9-14 days. WRONG! It shipped Thursday. 4 day turnaround. Scheduled for delivery on Tuesday!
