I have 2000LT only 20000km on clock, I would like to know is the O8 LT is much more easy to handling than 2000 LT, and also the performance is much better than 00 LT?
because I want to buy 2008 LT( second hand but only 1000km on clock) .
please share your opinion and comment.

The LT was slightly improved in 2005. I have a 99 LT myself but rode 05 and newer LT's on a couple of occasions. I found that the newer bikes felt a little bit lighter at low speed but not that much. As far as performances are concerned, although the newer model got about 18 more HP I honestly did not feel that much of a difference when compared to mine. There is a slight improvement but I would have expected more from a 18 HPs difference. I do like the new dashboard with the integrated OBC. I cannot comment on the HID addition on newer models as I did not ride them by night. All of that to say that the difference is not that big and with only 20k on your 2000LT it still has a big potential before needing to be replaced. If I were you I would not shade the $8k or $10k (I would assume to be what you would need to pay out of pocket to move from a 2000 to a 2008 LT). I would wait for few years and wait for what is coming. But again everybody has it own incentives.

Other differences include new digital instrumentation (but not the speedo ro the tacho), hydraulic center stand, separate high and low beam assemblies, linked and servo assisted brakes, radio with CD player instead of cassette, running lights with the turn signals, ground lighting, central locking. Nothing major, really...!

I remember when I bought my 05' the brochure said there were around 30 changes to it from the 04'. The tranny had some changes to make it shift better and quieter, 5th gear is lower, stronger shift lever, the seat was made narrower, front fender is different, tires were bias no more radials. They also replaced the old style FD with a bullet proof version with a lifetime warranty (Just kidding).

Frist of all, say thank you very much for your opinion and advise.

Before I have 99LT(50k on clock) and change to 00LT(20k on clock), I found that the performance and handling are difference, I feel the engine respone of 99LT is slower than 00LT. after I change the Ohlins damper ( because the orginal have been worn out and leakaged), I found that the handling is more easy. if I will not change the 08LT in this time , I will change the Ohlins damper and shock to my 00 LT.( because Ohlins shock I purchase already but the damper I will try to change the fork oil and check the result, any comment , guys).

I ride and drive more than 30 years, never buy the same model car or bike again, but the LT.........I really love it.

I've got an 02 that I bought with 1,006 miles on it at the time, now with 42,000 miles and from time to time I think about upgrading to a newer model. After looking at the differences between my bike and the new ones, and then remembering what I've added to my bike, I just can't make the trade.

The only major difference between my 02 and the 09's or 10's is the center stand, and display and for several reasons, don't really want the additional weight, wiring and hydraulics of the center stand. Don't use my center stand much anyway. If the new model coming out later is different, I may reconsider. My 02 is just starting to feel broken-in!

Everything I've heard and read says that you won't be disseminated in the Ohlins, or for that matter, new shocks. I really wonder though if new BMW shocks are as good as new aftermarket ones?

I still have my ordinal shocks and they "seem" to be OK. Granted I only weigh about 150 soaking wet, so I probably haven't worn mine like someone who weighs 200+.

A simple test for cars is to push down on a fender and note whether or not it comes back up in one motion or several to determine if the shock needs to be replaced. One move up and it's ok, several and it's time to replace. I just don't know of a test for the K1200LT though. Maybe someone will help us.

You will know if your rear shock is worn when the bike wallows in fast turns.
On my 05 the shocks were gone when I replaced them at about 45k miles.
An advantage the Ohlins have over the stock is that they are designed to be rebuilt when needed.
