Hi-Beam HID replacement

If I install this replacement, does it replace the plastic bulb holder that's stock for the H3 bulb? Reason I'm asking is that I've lost mine. Yes, I'm up for the dumbass of the year award. Hi beam went out. Pulled the cover & got the bulb out. Waited several days to get to town to buy bulb. Got bulb, put back in, then couldn't remember where to hook the wire. (sigh) Finally weather clears up, going for a ride. Well, let me look in there again. Pulled cover & the plastic holder & bulb are gone. Nowhere to be found on garage floor either, but it is messy. I did ride a few times in between all this without high beam, but the spring loaded cover was on. Haven't been to dealer yet to see about this part, but I'm figuring if its half or more for the cost of the upgrade, upgrade it is. Maybe it's time for some ginseng supplements. Memory not quite like it used to be. On a side note, the low beam has HID, I could barely get my hand up there to the bulb, then couldn't figure out how to pull it. Need a leeetle (Dick ) help there also... (let the ribbing begin)

Re: Hi-Beam HID replacement

Here's a thread where the holder is discussed. It needed to be modified to accept the lamp. In post #31 I mention links to other discussions on the installation. THis may be specific to the HIDs from a group buy.
