New seat

Well after saving my pennies for years. I mailed my seats off to Russell Day-Long saddles today. I can't wait until they return. Then the fun starts. As most of you know it is suggested that you ride and break the seat in. I'm thinking it might just take me longer than most,to break the saddle in. And, thats my story, if anyone ask.

If I were you I would even double the amount of break-in miles... just to be sure!

Re: New seat

You will not be disappointed

I just got mine last week.

It is all that and a bag of chips, with salsa too

I bought one off here and it was pretty wore out, but was still a serviceable seat. I ran it about 4000 miles and loved it. So I sent it in and they rebuilt it in all Leather.

It is so nice, I have ridden about 300 miles since then and my seat is no longer a thought other then how nice it feels. It is truly comfortable and supportive. I like the way my knees are level now instead of slightly downward.

I did christen it in the rain today. Before I put it on, I soaked it in Lexol on my leather recliner and let it sit overnight, soaked it again and let it sit overnight again. Today it sat in the rain and I wiped it dry when I got on.

Don't know if it is just mine or the Russel in general, but it does not heat up as fast as my Corbin or Stock seat. BUT, it will cook you once it gets warmed up, it really cranks on high, man it was nice coming home in the rain today.

Be ready to sit higher, you will for sure. I knew that going in from using one first. Not a bad thing at all but it did make me have to adjust on stops a bit. I always use my left foot on the ground and right on the peg. I need to lean the bike a bit to support it now flat footed, I can use the ball of my foot without a lean but don't care for that myself. I have a 30" inseam and I am 5' 10" tall.

It will be worth the wait, and you will love it. I sure love mine

Re: New seat

same same. I was seriously considering going back to the goldwing until I got the Russell this summer. Could not have made the 28 hour ride time in 4 days without it. I especially like setting up higher. the seat is wider, which contributes to my feet not touching as easily. I'm 5-11, with a 32" inseam. I can barely touch flat footed now. However, the good out weighs the negatives by far. We ride with nylon riding pants usually. I used regular leather treatment at first but the slipperiness was bothering my wife. I've started using Meguiars motorcycle leather treatment. it is not slippery.

Re: New seat

Like everybody who has or is going thru what I'm doing now. It is the waiting game for now. I almost fell out when they told me how much it was going to be to ship to CA.
Being short and wide so I knew from talking to the kind people at Russell, my height would be a problem. So, I hope I won't do like I did the first time used locking bicycle shoes. I looked like I was in a scene from "laugh-in". I forgot to unlock my shoes and you know the rest of the story. That was a self correcting problem. Tk's for the comments and marking off the days on the calendar.
