Like coming home

I must have written an introduction here way back when I first bought a new 2001 K1220LT but can't really remember. Five years later, after a bunch of really nice rides, I wrecked/totaled the bike and thought I'd never buy another. (The wreck was bad for the bike but suffice it to say that I'm glad to be typing this...)

Three weeks ago, my wife and I were very "un-seriously" window shopping for bikes when we saw it: a black 2002 K1200LT "deluxe" model in fantastic shape at a local dealership. A bit of tire kicking and a nice 45 minute test ride along the Cali coast later, we both knew it was coming home with us. The clincher was that the moment we hit HIghway 1, it felt like old times.

Now all of our spare time is spent plotting where we're going to take this beautiful bike. Or rather where this beautiful bike is going to take us.

Hope to see some of you out there...

a Remus exhaust
a set of PIAA lights
a Cee Baileys windscreen (super thick!)
the full-on BMW comm system w/CB (??!!)
dual helmet locks off the license plate holder
flip-out highway pegs (from under the engine bumper guards)
an original BMW Navigator GPS (to be replaced with a Zumo 550)

Welcome back.

Since you have been out of commission for a while, you may not be aware of another option introduced a few years ago for Highway Pegs. If you aren't comfortable with what you have, we hope you'll consider Mick-O-Pegs which are spring loaded and allow you to stretch your legs down rather than spread them out.
