Questions about non-BMW filters

I'm getting ready to perform the 24k service on my 02 K1200LT, which will also be my first time to do this. While looking on Beemerboneyard's web site I found that they have a 12/24K service kit that includes all filters, o-rings, crush washers, and spark plugs for $89.95. The oil filter and plugs are Bosh and the air and fuel are Mann filters. I'm sure these are good filters, but would like to get some input from someone thats used them before I order. They also have a special funnel for flushing the brake system, has anyone used it for their brakes?

Get it You will save a bunch of money over the dealer price. There are a lot of us that use BeemerBoneyard service kits. Very good kits & there service is top notch. I've used them for 4 years on my LT. I've not used the funnel but all reports here are positive on it.

Re: Questions about non-BMW filters

As far as the oil filter is concerned, you can get the Bosch 72161 filters from www.rockauto.com for $3.63 each. Do a part # search for 72161 under manufacturer - Bosch.

I have used these in my LT for over 100K miles with no issues...just be sure to remove the label from them that is glued to the side since they do run inside hot oil.

Those same filters fit my Toyota Tundra.

I get my 3mm X 88mm orings for the cover plate from rocketseals.com for $1.28 each and usually order 25 at a time.

I switched from Bosch plugs to the NGK Iridiums and was pleased with the performance. Rockauto also sells those.

Hope that helps.

Ron

Re: Questions about non-BMW filters

Thanks for the information guys, think I'll give beemerboneyard a try since I'll get everything I'll need with one order. Their kit also included fuel hose clamps and o-rings for the fuel line disconnects.

Beemer Boneyard = good guys

Unrelated to parts selection: strong recommendation for service and quality of Beemer Boneyard.

It is a small operation, run out of a garage, but the attention to detail is top notch. Nicely labeled and sorted parts.

I have been using their kits for years and have no complaints. Since I happen to live only about an hour from their location, I sometimes just drive up to pick up the stuff. Last Wednesday, a new battery for my GS was ready, prepped and waiting for me just based on a quick phone call a few hours in advance.

Good guys.
