adding a alarm to bike

I was thinking of adding a BMW alarm off a 2003 bike to my 2000 KL2. Is there any restrictions if my bike did not have this as a original item? I have found one on ebay. Or should I go with 3rd party alarm?

Thanks

Re: adding a alarm to bike

There's a lot of changes.. ignition interrupter, wiring changes, etc, etc...

Not worth the trouble.. just get yourself some GOOD INSURANCE.

Re: adding a alarm to bike

Ditto on cfell's comment. They are different hookups for the alarm from the very early to middle bikes and the another connector change for the 05 and up. If you must have one use an aftermarket unit.

Ok how many have had a BMW stolen from them? I have lost two bikes to thieves but nether of which was a BMW (71 Honda 350 and 74 Suzuki GT-750). I only set the alarm when I want it to go off if some tries to break into my bike.
