Trip computer blues

The trip computer on my 99 LT failed a while back. Since then I have tried to track down a possible cause but can't find anything obvious. The thing just quit one day on a rainy ride. Does anybody out there have an idea what a cause could be and are they fixable? I currently have the plastic off and have made sure the connector plug is clean but other than that there doesn't look like there is much that can be done to the actual unit. Anybody got a used one that works they would like to part with?

Jim,
I am new to this board and the LT but I have read where a few problems were fixed with a cold reboot. Have you tried disconnecting the battery, waiting a minute and then reconnecting. Can't hurt anything and who knows.

I agree with Fred's idea. I haven't heard of anyone doing it with the computer but it seems to work quite often with radio problems.

Yeah, tried that one. Just replaced the old battery and that should count as a cold reboot too. My first suspicion was water had gotten into the bc switch so I opened that up and found it to be an almost impossible to fail setup so from there I tried the connection block and that did nothing. When it failed I at first noticed it was not displaying so I hit the bc button and it came on. Then it went off again seconds later. I hit the bc again. It came on again then after a few seconds it failed and never came back on.
