2002 K1200LT-just purchased

Hi All,
I just purchased a repo'd LT. Unfortunately, it did not come with the user's manual so I am just making my way through the bike trying to figure out things. Question: HOW do you use the reverse on the bike. I switched it to "R" and used the throttle but nothing happens. Also, I am assuming that when you turn on the heated grips they just come on but mine don't heat up. Does anyone know the most common symptom for not working? Last question, what is the BO (could be BC) button on the right side handlebar on top and in front of the throttle?

Thanks in advance,
Perplexed Ed

Put the bike in neutral and start it, put the switch to the "R" (you may have to rock the bike forward or backward a little to get the reverse engaged) with the engine running press the starter button. The LT uses the starter motor for reverse. When you get where want to be put the switch back to "F" (you may have to rock it).

Enjoy the ride.

The BC button is used to rotate through the temp, MPG, Average Speed, in the little window over on the left side of the dash.

Turn the grip heaters on... grab the grip and keep your hand on it for awhile.(while the engine is running) If they don't get hot check the fuse under the rear seat.

Re: 2002 K1200LT-just purchased

Thanks you guys! Ahhh, the infamous BC button. And here I was hitting the Mode button on the actual LCD to rotate through the functions. Must be the fuse on the heat grips. I've left them on for quite awhile and no heat. I wish I had a manual.

Another question: I know the driver seat has two adjustments. How is this done and how do you get under the seat?

Kamahalo,
Glad you could join. Keep searching this site for answers to your questions and you will learn more about this bike than by reading any users manual.
Check out the Hall Of Wisdom.

Open the left side case and pull the knob to release the seat.
There is a stamped metal bracket that flips one way or the other to raise and lower the seat.
You will see the shock adjuster tucked in there too. Pull up on it to be able to adjust the setting for different loads or handling.
Good luck with the bike.
