Seals and leaks.

I have a 2206 LT. with 36000 KM. About 20000 miles. I live in Richmond BC

I have jut returned from a trip through Washington, Oregon, Idaho,Nevada and California. Great trip. Relally hot in the deserts. I discovered that my front fork and final drive seals started to weep. In the front oil was down the forks, on my brakes and was even seeping up under my left handle bar on the faring. Oil was also present on my swing arm around the seals.

Just wondering if other LT owners have this problem and are LT the type of bike to start nickle and diming repairs after the warrenty runs out.?

Thank you.

Double check and make sure it isn't your front shock. DAMHIK.

Re: Seals and leaks.

I have a 2006 LT as well. Had seals in the fornt forks replaced after 5,000 miles and had final drive seals replaced at 23,000 miles. Bike is currently at dealer for yet another possible leak.. possibly seal at engine and trans. I am beginning to think I bought a Harley for all the leaks I've had.

Re: Seals and leaks.

Had the same thing happen to me, fork seals, easy to replace.

Re: Seals and leaks.

I have US 06 LT, & had the right fork seal leak with 13,000 miles & BMW told me that they only cover it for 7,500 klms....local dealer wanted $500 to change both fork seals. I did my research on this forum & with advice did it myself (right seal) in 30 mins. Hasn't leaked since, I have 24,000 miles.
So far no other leaks...crossed fingers!
