yup, they indicated that they "called" local dealers for a "fair retail price". BULLSHIT!

Maine only has one dealer, and NH two. I know for a fact that they never called the Maine dealer (because I have been talking to the principal and service manager several times a day since last Friday)

$13,650 is the estimate for repair. (and I walked away..............)

Re: 2005 Lt State Farm offer on Total

Depending on miles, they are 3-5K off. Let them know you have done your research and let them know what you expect vs. them continuing to make offers.

Fair is fair and like most of us, your bike has a certain personal value that no stinking insurance company can put a price on. But at the end of the day, it's business. You are their customer and have probably been with them for quite a while. (I have all my stuff with the same company) So make it about business and let them know what you have done for them with the years of premiums and (hopefully) no claims. In addition, let them know you don't really want to switch insurance carriers, but you will if they are not fair.

Re: New offer from SF on 2005 LT Total (Merged thread)

It appears that SF is totalling the bike. For a total the repair price has to exceed the value of the bike. In this case the fair market value of the bike as determined by SF is somewhat less than the cost to fix it so it is a total. Grab your check, and place a very nice down payment on one of those shiny new black '09 s!!!

At least you are getting a new bike out of it. I am sure it don't make up for the grief but it will when you have that new one.

Congratulations!

Well...not so fast....the bike came in with crate damage. busted clutch lever, broken left side wind deflector (top), and a strap chafe across the painted piece by the license plate.

This is when it would be fun to call them on it, and watch them squirm. "So, what are the names of these 'local dealers' you called?" followed by discussion of how they didn't.
